Vortex Chicken
This is the Double K Kitchens version of Vortex Chicken. Double dip the chicken in an egg wash then coat with your favorite batter recipe. Malcom Reed at How to BBQ Right or Dski Grillz have a couple of options.
Then just fire up the Weber Kettle with the Kingford coals stacked in pyramid fashion. Place the chicken on the outside of the Weber grates and let the heat from the dome crisp the chicken to perfection.
Normally, it would take about 45 minutes at 400-450 degrees, but today I set the Summit to about 300 degrees and it took 1 hour and 20 minutes. Outcome is the same…nice and cripy but meat is not dry. The outer coating acts as a protective barrier to keep moisture in the meat.
Topped it off with nice glass of Red Blend Box Wine. Perfect Sunday early evening dinner!
